Last week’s blog candy winner is Dee Whitaker…Congratulations! (chosen by random.org)
Contact me with your address and as long as you live in the US I’ll be sending you the fun blog candy along with the card I featured on the original post. Dee’s comment was…Your website looks great! I love the new DSP Pop of Color paper! Black and white with a pop of Melon Mambo.
A simple leaf for a fall birthday. Yes, it appears to be a simple leaf but when you look closer you will see that the design looks almost 3D.
By layering designer series paper and then popping up a layer with a die cut you give your card that 3D effect.
I fell in love with our whisper white thick card stock for card bases but it’s also a perfect weight when popping up a die cut layer. No sagging and no need to use tons of dimensionals.
Give the leaf more emphasis by outlining it with your soft suede marker (thin end). This is easily done by placing the leaf back over the die cut and tracing around the actual die.
Add a pretty grosgrain ribbon in a coordinating color and a simple sentiment to finish off your card
But in the end, what really makes this card extra special is the pretty patterned paper. This is only one of the beautiful designs in the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.
If you’re a leaf lover then make sure you look at the coordinating Vintage Leaves stamp set because when you use the stamp and die together you can make the most beautiful leaves. This is one combo that will remain in my stamp studio long after it retires.
Cut a soft suede card base 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 score and fold in half
Cut a Delightful Dijon layer 4×5-1/4
Cut a Thick Whisper White layer 3-3/4 x 5
Adhere the Delightful Dijon layer to the card base.
Stamp the sentiment in Delightful Dijon ink on the bottom of the white layer.
Cut the leave shape using the Leaflets Framelits (several leaves to choose from) and then keeping the die in place outline it with a soft suede marker (thin point end)
Tie Delightful Dijon Grosgrain Ribbon around the white layer and tie a knot.
Glue a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of patterned paper to the Delightful Dijon layer making sure it will fit right under the die cut when you add that layer.
Add dimensionals to the back of the thick white layer. Not just around the outside of the layer. Place some small pieces of dimensional around the actual leaf. Then adhere the finish layer to the card.

Today I’m sharing the swap card I designed for my team gathering. The theme in October was fall and I decided to take a look at the Paisley & Posies Suite in the Holiday catalog.
Let’s start with the paper…Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper. I choose the rich Cajun Craze leaf printed paper in the pack. This is a gorgeous pack of paper with beautiful colors and patterns and a little copper foil.
The sentiment is from the Paisleys & Posies Stamp Set. And the leaf was cut using the coordinating Paisley Framelits Dies. Save 10% when you purchase them as a product bundle.
The intricate dies can be a challenge to glue in place without getting glue all over your card so I tried something new that worked really well. I placed Tear & Tape Adhesive in strips on the back of the foil before I cut with the die. After running through the Big Shot I used the Die Brush and then used the Paper-Piercing Tool to remove the backing from what tape was left on the back of the die cut. Now you have a die cut with sticky on the back that’s easy to adhere to your project.
One of the larger pearls in the Pearl Basic Jewels pack is a perfect accent on the bottom of the leaf.
Before I share today I want to welcome you if you are new to my blog and ask those that visit me on a regular basis what do you think? I love my blog makeover! There’s still a few things they’re working on but I know that means it’s just going to get better. What a great job Brian and Nicole from Integrant Serviceshas done. They are creative and technical and have done an amazing job but what I’m most impressed with is how easy they were to work with. No waiting for days to hear back when I have questions. Very professional and timely. If you’re looking to start a blog or yours needs a makeover I would highly recommend them.
Now…on to today’s project. It’s easy to share joyful wishes at Christmas with the Merriest Wishes Bundle. Here I’ve used the die with the Christmas tree cutout to look like an ornament on a tree. My local customers enjoyed making this card at my September Christmas Stamp a Stack. You save 10% when you purchase the Merriest Wishes stamp set and Merry Tags Framelits Dies as a bundle. Though they can be purchased separately, when used together you will find yourself creating beautiful cards that will warm the hearts of both family and friends.
I love embossing folders…and this one is a wow! It’s the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
Backing the ornament with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper gives it lots of Christmas sparkle. Wish you could see it in person.
Easily add sentiments to your cards with the Tags & Labels Framelits.
When you need just a bit more shimmer add a little Wink of Stella. Here I used the clear just around the edge.
Look…amazing shaker cards and fun ornaments!

I’m giving another Thoughtful Branches Card Away Today!
Yesterday I posted a gorgeous tree and now today some beautiful Hydrangeas. Both were created with the Thoughtful Branches Bundle. If you didn’t comment on yesterday’s card and would like a chance to have it sent to you please Click Here, take a peek and make a comment. I’ll be choosing a person to receive that card tomorrow morning.
I’ll be posting additional cards throughout the rest of the month using this bundle and every time I do I’ll be choosing someone to receive it. So yes, please comment on today’s card and I’ll be choosing some lucky person on Monday morning.
The hydrangeas are again two die cuts adhered together slightly off set. Just like yesterday’s tree it provides fullness.
One flower is Melon Mambo sponged with Perfect Plum. The second is actually two colors…Elegant Eggplant on the bottom and Wisteria Wonder sponged with Perfect Plum on top.
See yesterday’s post to learn more about what Big Shot platforms and plates work best with intricate dies.
Here you can more easily see the Clear Wink of Stella used on the flowers. It’s an easy way to give some shimmer and shine to your completed card.
I am one of those rare people who love what they do and get to share what they love. If you have questions call, text, or send me an email. Click to learn more!
